CIRCLE
The Circle is a live drawing performance developed and presented at several international art festivals in China and Tunisia between 2016 and 2018. The work explores calligraphy beyond its traditional function as a form of writing, transforming it into a physical and performative act of creation.
At the centre of the performance is the circle—a recurring symbol of wholeness, unity, continuity, and the infinite. Through repetitive circular gestures and mirrored movements, drawing becomes both a visual language and a meditative process. The body acts as an instrument of creation, with movement originating from the body's centre and extending outward through the arms and hands onto the drawing surface.
Influenced by practices of meditation and mindfulness, the performance investigates the relationship between inner experience and external expression. Guided by sound, rhythm, and intuition, each drawing evolves in real time as a response to the surrounding environment and the emotional energy of the moment.
The resulting works are not merely records of movement but traces of a lived experience—capturing what is seen, heard, felt, and embodied during the creative process. Through the integration of gesture, drawing, music, and performance, The Circle invites viewers to consider creation as an act of presence, connection, and transformation.
